[It'd been too easy to fall into a pattern, after everyone from home had left except Cisco and Eddie. Spending time together because they're the only reminders of home either of them have left - Eddie likes to stay close to Cisco because he can't go home, and he knows it.
At first it had been passing the time with tests on Eddie's abilities in the garage, and Eddie being impressed by how brilliant Cisco is. Then, once the abilities were settled, it was Cisco introducing Eddie to the wide world of sci-fi films and video games. The movies were fun, the quiet hours in the dark living room, together on the couch - and well, one thing had led to another.
It's been a couple months since the first time they'd slept together, and now they're settled in a pretty comfortable routine. Eddie comes home from work, sore and a little irritated after an unsuccessful chase, and Cisco is by the kitchen counter in a pair of goggles, soldering something, computer chips and components Eddie will never understand spread out on a mat on the counter.
Eddie ignores it, just steps up behind Cisco and puts one hand on his shoulder from behind, lifts the other hand to slide fingers into Cisco's hair and sweep it to the side. Pressing an open-mouthed kiss against the back of his neck, he steps in a bit closer, pressing his body against the back of Cisco's.]
You busy?
[It's breathed out, hot breath against the slight dampness left behind from his kiss.]
[ Eddie's easy smile and friendly demeanour was a comfort after Barry and most of Cisco's other friends had been ported out for good. The fact that the guy is gorgeous didn't hurt either, especially once they fell into bed together.
Cisco was so focused on the project at hand that he doesn't hear Eddie approach, so he jumps a little at his initial touch. By the time Eddie's mouth is on his neck, though, he's already relaxing back against him, sitting up and tugging the goggles off. ]
[Even if Cisco doesn't turn around to look at him, the teasing smile he's wearing is obvious in the way he speaks. Eddie keeps his hands in Cisco's hair, though, threading his fingers through it idly as Cisco leans back against him. He enjoys Cisco's hair, smooth and dark, and he never really passes up a chance to touch it.]
I had a hell of a rough day. Do you have it in you to distract me a little?
[A wicked little grin against the nape of Cisco's neck.]
[Cisco's little shiver is only encouragement, and he threads his fingers into the hair at his temples, pulls it back and smiles a little as Cisco chats about the hover car toys. Half the time, just listening to Cisco talk about whatever he's doing cheers Eddie up.
But he's had something else entirely on his mind today, so when Cisco turns in his seat and looks up at him, wraps his arm around his waist, Eddie shivers a little, himself.]
Mmm, it wasn't much to talk about. I got in a chase, and came out on the wrong end of it. Got knocked around, and I'm sore.
[He pushes Cisco's hair back again, admiring his face. He's always been a sucker for dark eyes and hair.]
Let's go upstairs. Tell me what you're doing with the hover cars?
[It's been a few months since Eddie arrived and a couple since the kidnappings had happened. Mostly, it's been a struggle of settling into a new routine, of training with M every couple of days to figure out his ability, of working with Cisco to figure out how it works, what kind of effect he can have. It's all a little much, but he's starting to feel like a superhero, and like he could be happy here, like he can let go of Iris and look at this new place as a second chance instead of just an alternate to death.
The one thing that keeps weighing on his mind, though, is a lot more complex than getting his powers figured out, or at least it feels more complex. It's the fact that, through extended periods with both M and Cisco during training...he's started to develop some crushes.
And the bigger problem? M and Cisco are still dating.
Eddie is a respectful man, with no intention of breaking that relationship up and no concept of which of them he would even be interested in pursuing if they were to break up. But Eddie's not perfect, and it's impossible not to feel that longing every now and again.
He's feeling it when Cisco pauses the test they're doing to check his phone, smiling as he texts with M for a few minutes before turning his attention back to Eddie. Eddie, whose expression is set in a sort of sad smile, his eyes cast down a little bit. Glancing up after a moment, he takes a steadying breath and tries to get his mood under control. And after a few minutes of minor catastrophes, he realizes it's going to be impossible.
When Cisco asks what's up with him, he waves his hand, avoids eye contact.]
Just had a bit of a mood drop and can't recover, sorry. Give me a few minutes.
[ Cisco frowns, tapping the newest data into the tracking program in his comm before spinning his chair around and unwrapping a lollipop to pop into his mouth. This isn't the first time they'd been making progress only to have Eddie's mood bomb. ]
Anything you need to talk about? I've been told I'm a pretty good listener.
[Eddie is pacing a little, holding his breath and trying to clear his brain up. Find happiness. It's a little rough when Cisco is offering to listen like that, and Eddie's seriously considering just spilling his guts, seeing what Cisco has to say about the situation.
But he cares about Cisco. Enough to not want to make him feel threatened or like Eddie wants to move into his space, relationship-wise. He licks his lips, taking a deep breath and letting it out, trying to work out how to explain this without screwing everything up.]
Just...some romantic trouble, I guess. It weighs on me sometimes.
Missing Iris? You never know, man, she could get ported in!
[ Not that that's... entirely likely to help. Cisco remembers from when he was ported home that she's had months to mourn and move on, not to mention the family stuff she and Joe have been dealing with. But Eddie doesn't need to hear that from him, not when he's already in a bad mood. ]
[ It's hard to find a good shopping buddy, but Lisa has always found that the best way to get a guy to come shopping with her was to make a stop at Victoria's Secret, with the promise that she'll model her purchases for him afterward. That approach works, oh, about 99.9% of the time. The only guy she can't use it on is Len. (Or Mick, but she wouldn't want to use it on Mick or Len anyway.) In any case, she'd called Cisco up asking if he'd accompany her to the Central City mall for a COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE AND LEGAL shopping trip (which happened to include casing the new jewelry store under the guise of just wanting to look at the shiny things), culminating in a trip to VS for some new lingerie.
She holds up a gold teddy with black lace, and asks Cisco for his opinion? ]
[ Cisco is heavily laden down with Lisa's bags by the time they get to Victoria's Secret, and if he suspects that the credit card she's been charging things to doesn't actually say "Lisa Snart" on it, the tiny scrap of fabric she's holding up is more than enough to distract him from it. ]
[ It's not often that he feels like the luckiest guy in the world, but today is one of those days. He follows Lisa to the dressing room and finds himself a chair in the hallway outside the dressing rooms. ]
[ Cisco's been having A Day. One stupid oversight at work had quite literally blown up in his face and set him back on weeks of progress, if it wasn't going to require him to start over entirely. He had been planning on going home and locking himself in his room with a large pizza and binge watch the Cold War-ified version of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt that this world has to offer. But right before he could put the pizza order in to time it with his arrival home, his comm buzzed with a text from Eddie, wanting to meet for drinks.
Of course. Of course a shitty day would end with Eddie wanting to hang out. It wasn't that he didn't like spending time with Eddie. He loved it. That was actually the problem. It was hard to spend so much time with someone who looked like Eddie, a perfect reminder of all that's unattainable in Cisco's nerdy little life. It was almost even worse that he was a genuinely nice guy. Saying that Cisco had a crush was putting it mildly.
But in true Cisco Ramon bad idea fashion, he texts Eddie back, with several enthusiastic emoji, that he'd love to, and he'll meet him at a particularly imPort-friendly hole in the wall bar near the Heropa Porter. That'll give him enough time to get there and get a couple of drinks in before Eddie arrives... ]
[Eddie's had a bit of a Day himself. Between his position with the imPort police force and the job he'd been assigned when he arrived, which he can't seem to give up even if he technically could, it's been a very long day. By the time he's off his second job, he's wiped out and wants nothing more than a couple beers and to wind down.
But he doesn't want to do it alone. Every time he's alone for too long, he starts thinking about everything that had happened at home, his death, the things that he's missing out on. And the first person that comes to his mind to go for drinks with is Cisco - Cisco, who's always there helping him figure out his powers, chatting with him, being a generally positive influence in his life.
And thankfully, Cisco responds enthusiastically, so Eddie texts back that the first round after he arrives is on him, and he heads over. By the time he changes into a blue Henley and leather jacket over jeans, with a fresh splash of cologne at his throat, and gets to the bar, Cisco's already there with a beer on the table in front of him.
Eddie walks over, grinning brightly at him, and settles in across from him.]
Damn, you started without me. I was gonna grab the first round.
[ That beer is already mostly empty by the time Eddie arrives, if that's any indication of how Cisco's day has been. He didn't go home to change, so he's still in the slightly-singed graphic tee he wore to work that morning. ]
Hey, man, it's the thought that counts! And believe me, I would've waited if I wasn't having pretty close to the worst day ever.
[ He gestures to the scorch marks on what used to be a t-shirt he really liked. ]
[Eddie notices the scorched t-shirt about half a minute before Cisco points it out, and winces when he says he had close to the worst day ever.]
Let me grab a beer and then you can tell me all about it.
[Because, from the looks of things, Cisco's probably having a worse day than he is. He heads over to the bar, grabs his favourite beer - a microbrew from a nice little brewery in Heropa, as well as an order of nachos to share with Cisco - and settles in at the table again.
He takes a sip, and then leans in on an elbow, looking at Cisco.]
[ It's gorgeous out, that kind of early summer day where there's not a cloud in the sky, but it's not so hot that you want to hide indoors with the AC on all day, so naturally, the carnival grounds are packed for Central City's annual fair week. Cisco's carrying a glob of cotton candy the size of his head on the end of a stick, picking at it as they make their way through the crowd, licking his fingers clean every few sentences. ]
I'm not saying they aren't awesome, dude, I'm just saying I don't get why you're still so into roller coasters when you can run faster than them practically in your sleep.
[ Barry, for his part, is munching on his third or fourth fried dough, trying helplessly to keep the powdered sugar off his shirt. ]
I don't know, it's a... It's a nostalgia thing, I guess? We used to always come to the fair, back before... you know, my mom. [ OKAY CHANGING SUBJECTS! ] I just like the adrenaline of it, I guess, come on, just come on the Thunderbolt with me?
[ Barry deserves an actual medal of honor for not just speeding into Cisco's lap. He does run to the lab, but that's a logical thing for him to do because he might have been a fair distance away. He takes a moment to just look at Cisco grinning at him from the chair before he casually walks over to the chair.
After a second of pondering he chooses to straddle Cisco and give him a kiss. ]
I don't know if I want to get on your lap or not. This is a pretty good kiss angle for me.
But if I get on you I could maybe grind. Get a little vibration going, make this even better. Something you could get on board with even more than this?
